Almsgiving

This is the giving of marerial goods to people of need. Like prayer and fasting
it is seen as a personal spiritual practice in the curch. Almsgiving is particularly
important during fasting. If one is to brag about how much they give it is seen
as rude or sinful.

Its interesting how the religion discourages braging of what and how much one gives. It encourages humility and giving for the right reasons.

i agree with you chris. i am curious how much giving of something is considered rude, and i am curious what would be considered rude. It kind of seeems like a bittersweet thing to me. its sweet that you want to give BUT if you give too much its considered rude.

I think that the reason bragging about personal assets is considered rude in many religions is because we are supposed to all be considered equal in the eyes of god

I like the idea of Almsgiving that you're not supposed to brag about how much you were able to give. If you are bragging about how much you gave aren't you of missing the whole point?

I agree with all the comments. I think that it is a good idea that everyone gives to the less fortunate. I think that it is considered rude that people brag about how much they give because it may seem like people are treating it as a competition and not getting true meaning out of giving to the less fortunate.
